Photographer and professor Joshua Rashaad McFadden returns home to unveil the latest evolution of his deeply personal body of work. Consisting of work from seven different series, “I Believe I’ll Run On” chronicles the intimacies of Black life in the United States. From the streets of Minneapolis to the shores of an unknown coast, McFadden’s exploration converges in the Main Gallery of the George Eastman Museum in Rochester, NY, now through June 19, 2022. Back in February of this year, Host Teej Jenkins visited Rochester’s Hungerford building to discover the artists, craftspeople and vendors working and creating within its walls.  Through in-depth artist profiles, and a visit to the Hungerford ‘First Friday’ event, we learned how this communal space promotes and supports local craftsmanship, creativity and artistic endeavors.  With these types of events temporarily suspended because of the gathering restrictions connected to the COVID-19 outbreak - we're bringing this wonderful event to audiences from the safety and comfort of their homes. 

As part of the WXXI / Golisano Foundation Move to Include initiative - we bring you a cool throw back to when live art exhibits were still happening. Arts InFocus went behind the scenes to explore the De'VIA exhibit at the MAG back in February of this year. "Deaf View / Image Art" is a fairly new genre of art coined by deaf historians and artists 30 years ago as a way to recognize artists exploring deaf culture and the deaf experience. Since 2011 The Yards has been a staple in the Rochester art scene, committed to supporting all creative ventures. With that mission in mind, they proudly host a residency program twice a year, meant to foster collaboration between the artists and connections within the community. Meet four of the six participants in this summer's residency, who's work will be on display this Friday at the final showcase, 6pm - 10pm at 50-52 Public Market Way.
